About Us
Children learn best when they feel trusted—trusted to explore, to ask questions and to take their work seriously.
In the right environment, learning becomes more than absorbing information. It becomes a source of confidence, independence, and genuine joy.
A child who once learned to choose work independently in Preprimary grows into a student who confidently navigates new classrooms, new campuses, and increasingly complex work—supported at every step by a consistent approach to learning.
Our
Approach
At the Montessori School of Northern Virginia (MSNV), we believe education should grow alongside your child. Guided by Montessori principles and shaped by decades of experience, our programs are designed to meet students where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally—while preparing them for what comes next. Children learn by doing: managing their work, collaborating with peers, and developing the ability to think deeply and independently.
The MSNV Journey
MSNV serves children from toddlerhood through sixth grade, with programs thoughtfully distributed across three campuses just minutes apart. Students continue on to a two-year Middle School program beginning in seventh grade.
As students move through each stage, the learning environment evolves with them. Younger children build strong foundations through hands-on discovery and consistent routines, while older students take on greater responsibility, learn to manage their time and work, and begin to see themselves as capable, contributing members of a community.
Our Middle School brings together students from a range of educational backgrounds at a moment when relationships, identity, and independence matter most. Students are challenged to think critically, engage respectfully with different perspectives, and take ownership of their learning—skills that serve them well in high school and beyond.
The result is a school experience where children are truly known. They are supported, appropriately challenged, and encouraged to stay curious about themselves and the world around them. Our graduates leave MSNV academically prepared, confident in who they are, and ready for what’s next.
